English is part of the Danish school curriculum from 1st grade, and we’re generally good at speaking foreign languages—especially German and English. However, life will be easier if you learn Danish. In Sonderborg, you can take Danish lessons for free during the first five years of your residency. Whether you prefer attending a language school or learning online, there’s a flexible option to suit your needs.

Social life is central to many Danes, and in Sonderborg, you’ll find more than 700 active clubs and organizations, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Sports are popular at all levels, with the handball club Sønderjyske competing in Denmark’s top league.
