When you’re a student in a new place, there are many things you need to keep track of – not least your finances. Many of the shops in Sønderborg offer student discount, and you can also get housing benefit and a Youth Card to help you get around the municipality cheaply.

The Danish students’ Grants and Loans Scheme (SU)

Are you about to start an education of some form and are you 18 years old? Then you might be entitled to SU. Read more about eligibility for SU support here.

Youth Card

A Youth Card allows you to travel cheaply to and from your school or place of education.

You can get a Youth Card if you are:

  • 16–19 years old
  • A student in upper secondary education
  • A student in higher education

Student discount

Remember to bring your student ID with you whenever you go to e.g. a café, start a leisure activity or go to a museum. Many places offer student discount.
