In Sønderborg, we have focused on creating a greener future for a very long time. Through the private/public collaboration ProjectZero, the Sønderborg area is working to be carbon neutral by 2029 – long before everyone else. This impressive achievement is only possible thanks to the active participation of the business community, with as many as 60 % of companies in Sønderborg working in the green transition. This equates to approximately 6,000 people working daily to create a greener and more sustainable city, municipality and world.
Sønderborg has been at the forefront of sustainable solutions for years, where both the private sector and our politicians have high ambitions for a sustainable future. ProjectZero was created to support green development, and since Sønderborg has been researching and working on sustainable solutions for years before it became mainstream, we are well on our way. That’s why Sønderborg is also home to the national energy cooperation Energy Cluster Denmark. This demonstrates Sønderborg’s position as a pioneering force in green energy and sustainability.
Collaboration and partnerships between private and public companies are crucial for developing new competences and services that promote growth and create new jobs. In the Sønderborg area, there is a strong culture of entering into both large and small partnerships with research and educational institutions, Sønderborg Vækstråd, Energy Cluster Denmark, CLEAN and other knowledge providers.
These collaborations often take the form of concrete projects within product or market development, and it is not uncommon for the parties to seek investments or grants from external sources, which can be crucial to the realisation of the project.
